Press Release Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 International Exhibition
The 25th edition of the International Exhibition for Telecommunications, Control Systems, IT and Communication Services – Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 – finished its work. The exhibition ran on May 14 through 17, 2013 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
The exhibition is organized by Expocentre, E.J. Krause and Associates, INC. (USA), with participation of EUROEXPO Company, Russia. It was officially supported by the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and run under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Moscow City Government.
The logos of UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry and RUEF – the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs testify to the international recognition and standing of the Sviaz-Expocomm exhibition in the professional environment.
The exhibition was once again declared a highly efficient business platform, where professionals of the industry presented the best domestic and foreign technologies and exchanged information.
Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, noted in his welcoming speech that the exhibition was a powerful catalyst for domestic telecommunication industry. It is the main event to display the industry achievements, bring together leading international companies and leaders in the communication industry demonstrating their technical capabilities.
The Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 exhibition was attended by representatives of senior sectoral structures. Igor Shchegolev, Assistant to the President of Russia, Alexey Volin, Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media, and Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Head of the Federal Communications Agency, visited the exposition on the first day.
Nikolay Pozhitkov, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Commission for the Council of the Federation Performance Maintenance Monitoring, expressed the opinion that the Sviaz-Expocomm exhibition was an important event for development of the Russian telecommunication industry.
Vladimir Kononov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for Science and High Technology, highly praised the applied value of the exhibition, which demonstrated “the real results of the innovation process in Russia”.
The Sviaz-Expocomm exhibition is a high-demand event among the industry and public. The exhibition is an essential platform for demonstration of the latest developments in the field of information technologies and communications, the meeting point for industry experts and government representatives, stressed Igor Chursin, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency of Communications.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was also attended by Igor Sheremet, Member of the Military-Industrial Commission under the Government of the Russian Federation, and Igor Korotin, Director of Department for Exhibition, Trade Fair and Convention Activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
The exhibition welcomed 532 companies from 26 countries demonstrating the latest developments of telecommunication equipment, information technologies, control systems and mass communications.
Germany, Canada, and China participated in the exhibition with the national expositions. Companies from Taiwan organized a joint pavilion at the show.
The Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 exposition was held at the area of 14 314 net sq m to cover a whole range of communication services and technologies including telecommunication technologies and networks, information infrastructure, software programs and services, user devices, media and much more.
Among foreign participants are well-known companies such as Cisco, Agilent Technologies, Huawei Technoligies, Infinera, NEC, Emerson, Zyxel, and others.
The exhibition brought together 268 Russian companies and enterprises from nearly all regions of Russia – Mobile Telesystems, General Radio Frequency Centre, Incab, Svyazstroydetal, Concept Technologies, Fibertool, Vimcom, OCS-01, Energomera, Micran, Eltex Enterprise, Interkross, and others.
The new project Expocentre For Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions worked within Sviaz-Expocomm’2013. It is aimed at reduction of counterfeit goods at exhibitions by giving advice and guidance on intellectual property issues, as well as providing assistance in resolving conflicts over infringements of exclusive rights. Highly professional lawyers offered their advisory services to participants and visitors to the exhibition informing about existing practices and potential of legal intellectual property protection.
Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 attracted experts of the communication industry, giving the opportunity to become acquainted with unique equipment, as well as to identify ways of innovative and technological renewal of the telecommunication industry in Russia. The number of unique visitors was 18 140, 94% of them were industry professionals. The total number of visitors was 29 820.
The rich business-related programme of the exhibition was devoted to the key issues of the industry development.
One of the main events of the programme was Enlarged Meeting of the Roskomnadzor Board. At the meeting Aleksandr Zharov, Head of Roskomnadzor, set the task of forming a new image of the Federal Service. Key features of the new image will be maximum efficiency at minimum cost, mobility while making administrative decisions, highly technical and software equipment, publicity and openness to the society. Activities of Roskomnadzor and its local agencies and affiliates were covered by the exposition of Roskomnadzor at the exhibition Sviaz-Expocomm’2013.
A round-table on problems of digital divide in Russia was devoted to issues of digital development in the regions of Russia. The discussion was attended by representatives of federal mobile operators Megafone, MTS, Beeline, Tele2, Rostelecom, TTK, ER-Telecom, Osnova Telecom, and others.
The digital divide characterizes a level of availability of digital services including mobile communications, Internet access, e-education and other in various regions. To overcome the digital divide it is necessary to join efforts of mobile operators, lay new trunk channels, maintain the competitiveness of providers for the infrastructure of the last mile, and prevent price collusion at the regional level. It was suggested to make changes both in industrial and related legislation for simplification of the access to infrastructure for operators and securing the prompt commissioning of new networks.
According to the Communications Ministry of Russia, the funds for dealing with digital divide can be obtained at the expense of generic services fund, and the fees for radio frequency collected from operators.
MTS Company announced at Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 that their subscribers in Moscow and Moscow region would get access to high-speed Internet up to 100 Mbps this autumn.
The Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 presentation zone included a round-table on Introduction of LTE in Russia.
Konstantin Markov, Director of MTS Company, explained that this autumn the company was planning to implement a commercial launch of LTE FDD in Moscow, which means duplex mode with frequency division, using two parallel channels for data reception and transmission.
At the first stage MTS plans to launch LTE FDD in the Central Administrative District of Moscow, at airports and business centers of the capital, as well as the major highways of the region. Later the network will cover the whole area of Moscow, 80% of the populated area within the Moscow Small Ring, and 42 large Moscow Region towns including Taldom, Dmitrov, Klin, Chekhov, Naro-Fominsk, Serpukhov, Ozyory, Kolomna, and others.
The Sviaz-Expocomm’2013 exhibition included a Forum on Development Trends of Digital Communications: Integration, Convergention and Regulation, Forum on Information and Communication Technologies in Taiwan, as well as conferences, seminars and presentations focused on key issues of innovative development of the industry.
The next 26th edition of the International Exhibition Sviaz-Expocomm will be held on May 13–16, 2014 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
