The 9^th�edition of Russian IoT Day was organised by the Internet of Things Association as part of the conference programme of�Russian Week of High Technologies 2026.

Andrey Kolesnikov, Director at the Internet of Things Association, gave a market overview.��

The event was held in the format of a workshop focusing on the most successful industries and practices of implementing IoT, AIIoT, and Big Data. The event also featured an expert discussion, short presentations by experts, and a Q&A session with the audience.

Russian IoT Day is a practical discussion for a wide range of participants in the Internet of Things ecosystem and digital experts. The participants included representatives of the Russian community of experts in the field of the Internet of Things, digitalization and automation, and vendors and integrators.

Role of research and universities in telecom industry development

The conference programme of Russian Week of High Technologies 20926 hosted the Strategic Session on Research and Universities as Drivers of Development of the Telecom Industry.

The event was moderated by�Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education.

The participants made presentations on the topics of the role of research in the transformation of the Russian telecom industry, universities and colleges as centres of generation of research, measures of state support for promising projects, development and implementation of domestic technologies at industry enterprises, and personnel training for high-tech industries.

Igor Sokolov, Director of the Federal Research Center for Informatics and Management of the Russian Academy of Sciences, emphasized that academic and university science attaches great importance to solving the problems of building an advanced telecom infrastructure in Russia in order to meet the needs of society and industry in communications and data processing.

The session was attended by�Evgeny Ivashkevich, Rector of Central University,�Oleg Kolesnikov, Dean of the Faculty of Network and Communication Systems at MTUCI,�Ekaterina Chaban, Head of Scientific and Technical Cooperation at Rosatom State Corporation,�Ivan Komarov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at Moscow Power Engineering Institute, heads of universities, representatives of federal ministries, scientific institutions, industry businesses, and relevant associations.

Sviaz 2026 participants discussed the future of Russian telecom

The conference programme of�Sviaz 2026�hosted the�Plenary Session on Telecommunications as the Basis of Technological Sovereignty. Representatives of the government, major telecom operators, software developers and leading universities discussed the key challenges facing the industry. The event was moderated by�Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, and�Alina Tanatarova, an RBC presenter.��

The speakers paid special attention to the issues of legislative regulation.�Anton Tkachev, First Deputy Chair of the Russian State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, stated the need to find a balance between security and business development. He announced legislative initiatives designed to simplify the placement of cell towers on the roofs of apartment buildings, and stressed the importance of developing a low-orbit satellite constellation to fully cover highways and remote regions of the country with high-speed Internet.

The issues of practical implementation of state programmes were raised by business representatives.�Vitaly Trepykhalin, Vice President for Information Systems Development at Rostelecom, noted the effectiveness of forward contracts as a tool to support domestic R&D. In her turn,�Natalia Korchemkina, CEO of Soneric, recalled the 2030 deadline for the transfer of CII elements to trusted solutions, adding that true sovereignty is impossible without the complete transfer of the core (backbone network) to Russian software.

The discussion also touched upon the implementation of neural networks in business processes and personnel training.�Dmitry Markov, CEO of VisionLabs, predicted that the procedures for implementing AI technologies would become more complicated due to upcoming legislative changes regarding developer responsibility.�Evgeny Ivashkevich, Rector at the Central University, stated that today the industry needs not so much classical engineers as product managers and technology entrepreneurs who are ready to integrate complex solutions into the real sector of the economy.

The plenary session has become an effective platform for an open dialogue between the government, telecom business, and science.

Sviaz 2026 has opened

The 38 ^th�edition of the International Exhibition for Information and Communications Technology��Sviaz 2026�� has opened in Timiryazev Centre, Moscow. The show is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Sviaz 2026 takes place within Russian Week of High Technologies (the RWHT 2026). The Week also includes the Navitech 2026 Display of Navigation Systems, Technologies and Services, and a consumer electronics show.

This year\'s show brings together more than 360 companies from Russia, Belarus, and China.

The greatest attention of this year’s showcase is paid to systems and equipment of fixed communication networks, communication cables and line-cable equipment, network infrastructure, telecom technologies, data centers, including equipment and software for them.

At Navitech, Russian companies present solutions for navigation and monitoring of motor transport, remote sensing of the Earth, high-precision satellite navigation, and much more.

Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, spoke at the official opening ceremony and noted that Russian Week of High Technologies 2026 is the largest event in this country, where Russian achievements in the field of information technology and telecommunications are demonstrated. Traditionally, the central event of the RWHT is Sviaz, whose history began in 1975. Today, it has opened for the 38th time.

Vasily Shpak, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized the importance that information and communication technologies play in everyday life. Nothing happens today without information.

“I would like this information to be safe, useful, and to provide a new quality of life. All this is possible thanks to the availability of high-quality domestic equipment�reliable, efficient, safe�presented at the stands of today\'s show,” said the deputy minister.

Denis Frantsuzov, Vice President at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke about a special role of RWHT in achieving technological sovereignty.

“It is impossible to imagine our current life without companies that make means of communications using advanced technologies, including AI,” said Denis Frantsuzov.

Maxim Fateev, Director General at EXPOCENTRE, underlined that Sviaz is a story of stability and continuous development. Over the past half century, the show has gone from a special display of equipment to a fundamental global project, Russian Week of High Technologies, which brings together several trade shows and forums.

"I am sure that today’s participants will see an updated exhibition. More than half of the 360 exhibitors who are here are Russian companies, which indicates the rapid development of the high-tech industry in our country," said Maxim Fateev.

Sviaz is open until 10 April.

Show highlights

The Russian regional pavilions will be organised with the support of the Kaluga Region Business Development Agency and the Export Support Center of the Republic of Buryatia.

Rosel (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will demonstrate telecom equipment and Russian-made electronic components for communication systems. Other exhibits at the stand will include ISN415 and ISN505 series service routers, which Russian equipment for corporate networks, ultra-precise quartz resonators and generators for radio transmitters and microcontrollers, and fiber-optic cable with contactless data transmission technology.

This year, the exhibition will focus on landline network systems and equipment, communication cables and line and cable equipment, network infrastructure, telecom technologies, and data centers, including equipment and software for them.

The number of cybersecurity solutions will almost double. The range of equipment for satellite, mobile, and radio communications will significantly increase. There will be also an increase in the number of offers for communication services, data and contact centers.

The�Navitech�special display of navigation systems, technologies and services will host Russian companies, which will present solutions for navigation and monitoring of motor transport, remote sensing of the Earth, high-precision satellite navigation, fleet management, construction of intelligent transport information systems, and navigation inside buildings (indoor positioning systems).

Conference programme

The programme�s key event will�the Sviaz Forum, dedicated to a wide range of relevant issues. Its opening event will be the Plenary Session on�Telecommunications as the Basis of Technological Sovereignty.

The participating experts will discuss the topics of digital sovereignty and security, telecom as an important element of supporting national projects, evolution of regulation, i.e., how laws can keep up with technology, the role of government support and science in the development of telecom equipment, and AI and the improvement of the telecom industry.

Russian Week of High Technologies 2025�was open at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, Moscow, from 22 to 25 April 2025. It is an annual major series of events related to information technologies, telecommunications, navigation, and telematics.

RWHT 2025 was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The year 2025 has become a landmark for Sviaz as the show celebrated its 50-year anniversary. Over these years, it has come a long way from a hardware showcase to a strategic platform for the development of this country�s digital ecosystem.

The exhibition\'s product sectors covered all key areas of digitalization from telecom equipment, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure to IoT, digital ecosystems, and navigation services.

Innovative solutions for satellite navigation, transport telematics, telematics platforms and digital mapping were presented at Navtech 2025. The display attracted the attention of developers, integrators, and end users.

Mobile electronics has aroused great public interest. The International Consumer Electronics Exposition ICEE brought together more than 70 companies from China, Belarus and Russia. The exhibits included smartphones, tablets and wearable electronics with AI functions designed for the Russian market.

Sviaz 2025 introduced a�Contract Expo�procurement programme. On its first day, 130 contracts worth over 4 billion rubles were signed, which underlines the practical effectiveness of the platform.

One of the key topics of Russian Week of High Technologies 2025 was the problem of staff shortage in the context of digitalization. Experts say that with the growing adoption of AI in industry by 2030 Russia may need up to 3 million professionals with knowledge of AI algorithms. This caused a wide response in business and industry publications and was the subject of discussion during the Strategic Session on the Scientific and Technological Development of Russia in the Context of New Challenges.

The Russian Software Forum: Effective Solutions took place within�Russian Week of High Technologies 2025. The event was organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, the Competence Center of Import Substitution in the ICT Sector, and EXPOCENTRE AO.

Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, and�Ilya Massukh, Director at the Competence Center of Import Substitution in the ICT Sector, co-moderated the event.� ��

Vladimir Kononov outlined the topics for discussion and emphasised that Russian software was one of the fundamental blocks of this country’s sovereignty and a key driver for achieving Russia\'s technological leadership.

Ilya Massukh emphasised that Russia had come a long way in the 10 years since the first edition of the Russian Software Forum: Effective Solutions. Back then, the majority of the Sviaz exhibitors were Western vendors. People used to laugh at the combination of words ‘domestic software’ and ‘effective solutions’ in one phrase. Today, Russian software essentially determines the functionality of technologies, and the name of the forum sounds perfectly organic.

The forum participants discussed government support measures for import substitution, economic incentives for businesses to switch to domestic solutions, and conditions for foreign companies to return to the Russian market.

Sviaz 2025 presents Contract Expo

The Contract Expo programme is now running at�Sviaz 2025.It is organised by the Imperia exhibition and congress company.

This year, Contract Expo continues to expand and prove its effectiveness. Key buyers such as SDM Telecom, TMT, Starlink, Okno TV, 12ru, ER-Telecom and others are represented at Sviaz 2025 within this �programme.

According to the organisers, 130 contracts were signed on the first day of Contract Expo for a total amount of over 4,000,000,000 roubles. These figures confirm the high interest in the event and its importance for the industry.
