Sergey Bednov, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO
“It is the fifth time that EXPOCENTRE arranges Russian Week of High Technologies. Over these years it has gained a lot of respect, recognition and relevance among industry professionals. This important event is a cross-industry platform for creation and development of Russia’s digital economy infrastructure. Despite the current difficulties related to the Covid-19 pandemic, 150 companies from 10 countries and 8 regions of Russia have come here to exhibit their products and services. For many telecom companies, participation in the week, especially in the current environment, is not only a way to achieve competitive advantages but also a prerequisite for maintaining their positions and for further development.”
The participants of the official opening ceremony were Russian Deputy Minister of the Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksim Parshin, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, Chairman of the Organising Committee of Research-Technology-Innovations Expo Vladimir Kononov, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin, Head of the Department of Radioelectronic Industry of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Vasiliy Shpak, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO Sergey Bednov, Head of the Federal Agency of Communications (Rossvyaz) Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Deputy Head of the Department of Information Technologies of Moscow Alexander Gorbatko, and other officials and dignitaries.
During the ceremony, the speakers talked about a key role of digital technologies in the life of modern society. Thanks to digital technologies implemented previously, a business dialogue with entrepreneurs did not stop even in the environment of severe pandemic related limitations. It served as an additional impetus for active work on development of high technologies, which can be seen at these exhibitions.
Digital services during the pandemic allowed everyone to remain effective, i.e. to receive services and work remotely. No doubt that it increased the load on telecommunications. At the same time, the easing of tax policy allowed Russian software companies to reach better quality.
Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
“Despite all the difficulties associated with such a major event, it was important for us to show that it was possible to hold such exhibitions at a high safety and security level in Russia, as well as prove their relevance and high demand. The topic of digitalization, including access to the Internet throughout the country, satellite communications, telecommunications, and so on, is currently at the forefront of importance and urgency.”
As a tribute to the 5th edition of Russian Week of High Technologies, a special postal card with a postal stamp Sviaz 2020 with an EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds picture and a special souvenir seal stamp were made. During the closing part of the opening ceremony, the officials and dignitaries took part in a postal card cancellation ceremony.
