Russian Week of High Technologies opened its doors

The opening ceremony of the Russian Week of High Technologies 2018 has been held today at Expocentre Fairgrounds. This high-profile congress and exhibition event in the field of IT, telecommunications and navigation has been organized by leading experts and key market players from Russia and other countries.

The event has run for the third consecutive year. The 30th anniversary edition of the Sviaz International Exhibition for Information and Communications Technology, the 10th anniversary edition of the Navitech International Exhibition for Satellite Navigation, the 4th Big Media Communication Forum, the 12th International Navigation Forum, and the Forum on Russian Software: Effective Solutions are held at Expocentre Fairgrounds on the same dates.

Thus, the Week 2018 serves as a cross-sectoral platform. All the events are united by the common theme "Digital economy". The participants are 400 companies from Russia and other countries, 17,000 industry experts, 150 speakers, and 1,500 delegates. 

The Week is held in close collaboration with the Russian State Duma and supported by the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Communications Agency (Rossvyaz), the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC), and Glonass Union. The Week runs under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Week 2018 opening ceremony was moderated by Expocentre General Director Sergey Bednov who said that Sviaz 2018 and Navitech 2018 showed priority areas of the industry development. Russian and foreign companies showcase new developments for mobile, satellite, radio and fiber optic communications, data networks, cloud technology, software, information security, artificial intelligence, plus many others.

He also informed that Sviaz 2018 expanded its product sectors. Apart from traditional sectors, there appeared new sectors such as Data Centres, Smart Devices, and IoT Solutions.

At the Sviaz 2018 exhibition 321 companies from 18 countries showcase state-of-the-art equipment and developments on the total area exceeding 7,000 sq m. Russia is represented by 158 exhibitors. China and Azerbaijan participate with their country pavilions. 

Navitech 2018 is rich in innovations in the field of navigation equipment, services, and software. Interesting projects are demonstrated by resident companies of the Skolkovo Foundation and AutoNet in partnership with Russian Venture Company, industry leaders such as Gurtam and others, said Sergey Bednov.

Member of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, Chairman of the organizing committee of the Russian Week of High Technologies Vladimir Kononov, head of the Federal Communications Agency Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dmitry Kurochkin, Director of High Technology Department of the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications Dmitry Nikitin, First Deputy Chairman of the Commission on Public Security of the Civic Chamber of Russia Artyom Kiryanov wished great success to all participants in the Week.

The opening ceremony participants read out welcome addresses to the exhibitors, visitors and organizers of the Russian Week of High Technologies 2018 from Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications Nikolay Nikiforov, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin, and Secretary of the Russian Civic Chamber Valeria Fadeeva.

They noted the importance of the Week 2018 for further development and introduction of high technologies in key sectors of the Russian economy.

The head of Rossvyaz Oleg Dukhovnitsky said that a special postal stamp with the Sviaz logo was issued and a souvenir postmark was made on occasion of the 30th anniversary edition of the Sviaz International Exhibition. The official ceremony of the stamp cancellation took place immediately after the official opening of the Week. The stamp was defaced by Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Vladimir Kononov, Dmitry Kurochkin, and Sergey Bednov.
